Location: Derbyshire.
Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 (depending on experience).
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (flexible working available).
On-site: 5 days a week.

About Us:
Our client are a fast-growing company in the food manufacturing sector, committed to delivering excellence in both our products and operations. They are seeking an ambitious and hands-on Financial Controller to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in the next phase of our growth. This is a unique opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment and is looking to progress with a business that values innovation and forward-thinking.

The Role:
As Financial Controller, you will be responsible for leading our finance team and taking full ownership of financial operations and reporting. This is not a back-office role; we are looking for someone who can immerse themselves in the business, understand the operational challenges, and work closely with the factory and production teams.
You will manage a small finance team and have a direct impact on the development of the company's financial strategies, performance metrics, and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and manage a team of 3 (2 in Credit Control and 1 in Purchase Ledger).
• Develop and implement a comprehensive KPI dashboard to provide key insights into business performance.
• Streamline and improve the current finance reporting model to support better decision-making.
• Work closely with operational teams, including production, to understand cost drivers and identify opportunities for financial and operational efficiencies.
• Provide detailed financial analysis and insights to support business strategy and growth.
• Manage all aspects of financial control, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly reporting.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems and processes across the finance function.
• Be hands-on and comfortable getting involved in all aspects of the business, including spending time in the factory to understand operational needs.

What We’re Looking For:
• Experience in the food industry is highly desirable, but a strong background in operational finance is essential.
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or in a senior finance role, with strong financial and management accounting skills.
• Experience working in an operational environment, particularly in manufacturing or production—someone comfortable putting on a “factory hat” and working closely with non-finance teams.
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with a proven track record of managing and developing small teams.
• Highly proficient in financial reporting, with the ability to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
• Experience in KPI development and dashboard creation.
• A proactive, hands-on attitude with a desire to grow within the business and take on increasing responsibility.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the business.

Why Join Us?
• Competitive salary of £55,000 – £60,000 with opportunities for progression as the business grows.
• Work for a company that values ambition, innovation, and a hands-on approach.
• Be part of a close-knit team with a real opportunity to shape the future of the finance function.
• Flexibility with working hours to support work-life balance.
• Opportunity to work in a fast-paced, exciting environment that is constantly evolving.
