Last night around 740 people attended the Scotland food and drink excellence awards at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, to celebrate the very best of Scottish produce. Hosting the event was Simon Rimmer, the chef and presenter of Channel Four’s Sunday Brunch programme.
A dozen product-focused categories were judged by a thorough process, which included the review of packaging, quality of product and taste. In the course of their assessment of the entries, the judges sampled 197 Scottish products ranging from cheese and chocolate to ginger beer and gin.
D R Newitt would just like to thank everybody involved in the awards last night. A special mention goes to Loch Fyne Oysters who won the Fish and Seafood category sponsored by ourselves. It was a huge success and we enjoyed every minute of it.
On behalf of D R Newitt, we would like to congratulate all nominees and winners for showcasing outstanding Scottish produce.
