Location: Surrey (Hybrid – 1-day WFH)

A leading, award-winning importer and distributor of high-quality ambient food products, this company sources the finest seafood, fruit, and vegetables from around the world, partnering with trusted suppliers to ensure exceptional quality. Supplying the retail and food service industry.
About the Role
Working closely with the Head of Procurement, the Buyer will be involved in all aspects of the purchasing process, from sourcing new suppliers to managing order placement and monitoring market trends. You will play a vital role in supplier negotiations, cost management, and ensuring product availability, contributing to the success of a fast-moving food sourcing and distribution business.
Key Responsibilities:
Sourcing & Supplier Management – Identify and evaluate suppliers to ensure the best balance of price, quality, and lead times.
Negotiation & Cost Control – Secure competitive pricing, payment terms, and contracts with global suppliers.
Order & Stock Management – Work with demand planning and operations to maintain stock targets and meet delivery requirements.
Market & Trend Analysis – Monitor price movements, supply chain challenges, and category trends.
Quality & Compliance – Support logistics, importing, and customs processes, ensuring ethical sourcing policies are met.
Customer & Commercial Support – Manage tenders and provide Sales & Marketing teams with accurate pricing and data.
Your Skills & Experience
Minimum 3 years’ experience in buying, ideally within food procurement.
Strong negotiation, supplier management, and commercial acumen.
Excellent time management, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of international shipping, duties, and delivery processes (beneficial).
Strong IT skills, including Excel and data analysis.
