Food Technologist
Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Food Technologist to join a successful food manufacturing company based in Coventry. As part of the Technical Department, you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with Food Safety, HACCP, Quality, GMP, and Health & Safety procedures while contributing to the development and improvement of food products.
Key Responsibilities:

New Product Development (NPD): Develop new concepts and optimize existing products in line with the development Gate Process.

Project Management: Manage multiple projects while ensuring adherence to defined deadlines and launch plans.

Trial & Validation Management: Organize product trials, shelf-life testing, sample management, and industrial validations.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Commercial, Category, Sourcing, Production, and Technical Process teams to drive successful NPD projects.

Manufacturing Feasibility: Ensure new product feasibility within existing manufacturing processes.

Post-Launch Monitoring: Track product performance post-launch and follow the post-launch review procedure.

Compliance & Documentation: Maintain well-organized product files throughout the launch process and ensure all deadlines align with the critical path.

Audits & GMP Compliance: Actively participate in internal and external audits, ensuring all necessary actions are completed within the required timeframe.

Factory Standards & Pest Management: Oversee compliance with factory standards, pest management, and scheduling activities, working with service providers when necessary.

Documentation & Communication: Ensure all relevant documentation and site-specific systems are up to date and effectively communicated across teams.
Qualifications & Experience:

A degree (or equivalent) in Food Science or a related discipline.

Minimum of 3 years' experience within the food industry.

Strong understanding of HACCP, Food Safety, and Quality Management Systems.

Demonstrable analytical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

High level of IT literacy, attention to detail, and logical problem-solving skills.

Desirable qualifications: Auditing, HACCP Certification, and Food Hygiene.
