Design Engineer – Solar PV
Lead Technical Design | Drive Innovation | Hybrid Working
The Opportunity
Our client is a leading developer of ground-mount solar farms and commercial rooftop solar projects, delivering high-quality renewable energy solutions across the UK. They are looking for an experienced Design Engineer to take ownership of all technical documentation, from conceptual design to project delivery.
This role is perfect for a detail-oriented and technically skilled professional who can work across multiple departments, liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors, and deliver cost-effective, high-performance solar PV designs.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and manage complete design packages for project proposals and tenders.
Create initial system designs from technical site surveys and feasibility studies.
Handle grid connection applications, liaising with DNOs to ensure successful project completion.
Perform yield assessments and data analysis to optimise PV array sizing and layout.
Produce detailed technical drawings and specifications using PVSol, PVsyst, PVcase, CAD, and manufacturer software.
Manage technical relationships with sub-contractors, funders, and DNOs.
Support procurement, identifying new suppliers and negotiating contracts.
Provide on-site technical support during installation and commissioning.
Stay ahead of industry advancements to enhance design capabilities and system performance.
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience in solar/renewables engineering.
Proficiency in PVSol, PVsyst, PVcase, CAD, and MS Office.
Strong technical knowledge of commercial rooftop and ground-mount solar PV systems.
Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
Working knowledge of HubSpot CRM and Google Sheets is desirable.
