Senior Project Development Manager – Behind-the-Meter Renewable Energy

The Opportunity

Our client is a leading renewable energy developer, delivering behind-the-meter solutions for industrial power users (IPUs). Their projects focus on private wire connections to large-scale industrial sites, integrating ground-mounted solar PV, battery storage, and onshore wind.

They are seeking a Senior Project Development Manager to lead the development of private wire projects, from land acquisition through to shovel-ready status. This role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in a dynamic, fast-growing environment and is eager to shape the company’s future strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Sourcing & Land Acquisition – Support site identification, manage land agents, and negotiate land lease agreements.
• Project Development – Oversee all aspects of development, from securing land and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) HoTs to achieving a shovel-ready status.
• Technical & Grid Management – Work closely with DNOs, progress grid connection applications, and ensure project design aligns with cost and schedule objectives.
• Planning & Compliance – Manage planning applications, environmental constraints, and ensure full regulatory compliance.
• Process & Strategy Development – Help refine internal processes and contribute to the company’s long-term growth strategy.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience delivering large-scale behind-the-meter renewable projects for industrial offtakers.
• Strong technical expertise in private wire solar, storage, and wind projects.
• Track record of securing land option-to-lease contracts.
• Familiarity with DNO engagement, grid applications, and cost optimisation.
• Experience managing private wire cable routing along public highways/private land.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive to lead and grow a development team.
